Façade
By composing translucent layers of both appropriated and original text, my work employs printmaking and bookmaking to activate the simultaneously individual and collective sensation inherent to the process of reading. I am interested in the potential of language to traverse both physical and psychological thresholds, from one “surface” to another – the journey between language printed on a page, projected on a screen, and comprehended on the surface of the human brain. Language itself moves between us, and is one of the tools we have to form networks of knowledge and commonality.
